Important Business Lessons We Can All Learn from Apple

By 16th October 2016 No Comments

On Wednesday, September 7th, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in a big event in California. The unveiling raised the eyebrows of many people since the new smartphones lacked one important thing: a traditional headphone jack. Still, this detail did not dampen the spirits of die-hard Apple fans, and the overall event still emphasized the fact that Apple is still a leader in the mobile device niche.

The fact that Apple has retained a strong presence despite numerous competitors and declining sales can be an inspiration to many entrepreneurs. If you’re planning to start a business or are already running one, here are some of the valuable lessons you can learn from the Cupertino-based tech giant:

Keep it simple

If you look at Apple products, one of the first things you’ll notice is their simplicity. iPhones, iPads, iPods, and Macs are known for their smooth, clean lines and minimalist design — which might appear too austere at first but is actually what makes them attractive to many people.

This doesn’t mean that you should copy Apple’s designs (far from it!), but it does mean that you should strive to apply simplicity in everything you do. Whether it’s choosing an accounting software that’s easy to understand or creating no-frills products that suits your customers’ needs, you’ll find that opting for simplicity can get you far.

Create a recognizable brand

Your brand doesn’t have to be as famous as Apple’s logo, but you should at least stand out from the crowd. No one will mistake an iPhone for a Samsung smartphone, and no one will mistake a MacBook Air for a Windows laptop. In the same vein, your target market should be able to distinguish your products and services from those of your competitors’ — even if they haven’t yet bought anything from you.

Make your own traditions

Apple has made it a tradition to launch the latest iPhone models in September. As a result, its fans always look forward to this month because they know it’s when the company will unveil a new and exciting product.

You can incorporate this idea in your business to give your customers something to look forward to and increase brand awareness. Perhaps you can hold a charity dinner during your business’s anniversary or have a raffle contest during Christmas. It doesn’t have to be a huge event; it just has to be something that will make your target audience remember your venture on a regular basis.

Build a loyal customer base

Apple is known for its die-hard fans who are willing to stick with the brand through thick and thin. These people want to upgrade their iPhones and MacBooks every time a new one comes out, which doesn’t only help maintain Apple’s sales but also increases its brand identity. Having a loyal customer base like this should be at the top of your To-Do list since it can help you greatly in the long run.

You may or may not use Apple’s products, but you have to agree that it’s one of the most successful companies and that it can be a source of helpful lessons for many entrepreneurs.
